2012 retrospective

The 2012 was a busy year with many new events and achievements.
Among the most important activities undertaken in 2012 we include:
1. After a short break, of a few months, the “After School” Project resumed under Monica’s careful coordination.
2. In the summer of 2012 we submitted two projects within the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme: a. The “Education step by step” Project, aimed at creating complementary education programs of “after school” and “summer school” for 70 children , from disadvantaged backgrounds and
b. The Workshop Diversis project –a social economy unit.
Luckily, for the Workshop Diversis Project we got a positive response, and in 2013 we have to establish details of financing and project implementation.
3. One of the proposed objectives for 2012, was to complete and repair Salix roof, found in an advanced state of decay. This achievement was possible due to a Swiss team of volunteers who handled the reconstruction and to an American team of volunteers who were involved in collecting a part of the money.
4. Winter holidays were tumultuous this year.
This year, we were pleased to collaborate with a group of BRD Brasov employees, who organized the event ”Letter to Santa Claus” for our children.
Children received presents from the employees and as a sign of gratitude they prepared a small concert of carols.
Before Christmas, some of our children and some beneficiaries of the “After School” Project, were invited by Air Force Academy “Henri Coanda” Brasov students, at the academy, where they received personalized gifts.
Christmas was celebrated at home, near the Christmas tree and in the last day of the year, Sonja held a meeting during which the children had the chance to think about the achievements and failures of 2012, and to propose new goals for 2013.
